Pectinase

The main enzyme used in bioscouring is pectinase, which helps break down the pectin in the cotton cuticle, thereby helping to remove waxes, proteins and other impurities. During this process, part of the wax remains on the surface of the cotton, protecting the fabric from further damage during the subsequent finishing stages.
